Africa trip awaits Real Madrid as they face Melilla in Copa del Rey

  • Real Madrid have a trip to Africa on their hands.

    Real Madrid will be making a trip to Africa for their Copa del Rey Round of 32 clash after being drawn against Spanish third-tier outfit Melilla.

    The 19-time winners of the competition have been drawn away for the first-leg which is slated to take place October 31.

    Based in the north coast of Morocco, Melilla is a tiny Spanish enclave with a population of 86,000. It is one of the two Spanish ports in the African continent alongside sister city Cuenta. Both enclaves are claimed by Morocco.

    The first leg of the Round of 32 clash will be held in the 10,000 capacity Alvarez Claro Stadium. The return leg of the tie will be held on December 5 at the Bernabeu.

    Holders Barcelona have also been drawn against a third-tier outfit and will travel to Cultural Leonesa for the first leg.

    Atletico Madrid, meanwhile, will take on the only fourth-tier team in the competition – Sant Andreu.
