Sevilla moved top of La Liga after beating Granada 1-0 to record a second-successive win under new manager Julen Lopetegui.

Former Spain and Real Madrid coach Lopetegui, who began his tenure with last weekend’s 2-0 success at Espanyol, maintained his 100-per-cent start thanks to Joan Jordan’s first goal for the Andalusian club.

Midfielder Jordan, a £12.6 million summer signing from Eibar, fired home from close range in the 52nd minute after seizing on a loose ball when Sevilla striker Luuk De Jong was blocked by a combination of Domingos Duarte and German.

In Friday’s second match, Roger converted two second-half penalties as Levante came from behind to beat Villarreal 2-1 and earn their first points of the season.

Gerard Moreno slid home Karl Toko Ekambi’s centre to give the visitors a third-minute lead, before Roger levelled from a retaken spot-kick in the 68th minute after Levante captain Jose Morales saw his effort saved by Villarreal goalkeeper Andres Fernandez.

Forward Roger once again dispatched the ball into the bottom right corner from 12 yards 17 minutes from time to claim the winner after he was fouled by Fernandez.
