Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone is confident Diego Costa can fire the Red and Whites to Madrid Derby glory against Real Madrid on Saturday night at the Bernabeu (10:45pm kick-off).
The early season clash between the two Spanish capital clubs gives Atleti the opportunity to usurp Los Blancos in the La Liga table with a win and move to 14 points.
After a tough start, Simeone’s side have started to find their feet in recent weeks and he believes the former Chelsea star can make the difference, despite having not yet netted in six league outings this term.
“I see him being in fantastic form and for me, in the first half the other day, above all else he played very well,” Simeone said of the 29-year-old, who did score in Atleti’s opening Champions League victory at Monaco.
“He participated in the team’s first goal with an assist (against Huesca last week) and was always continuously moving and causing problems.
“Physically, he is strong and against Madrid, he will surely have a great game.”
Atletico downed Real in August’s Super Cup, winning 4-2 in Estonia.
