Liverpool legend Dietmar Hamann has expressed concern over the departure of Jurgen Klopp‘s long term No2 Zeljko Buvac from Melwood ahead of Wednesday’s crucial Champions League semi-final second leg against AS Roma in Rome.

Buvac will spend some time away from the first team over the coming weeks, but the club insists it is for “personal reasons.”

The club considers the matter to be private and therefore will respect that privacy by not making any further comment, though they confirmed Buvac remains a Liverpool employee and his position at the club is not affected by this absence.

His departure so close to the Roma clash is a hammer blow to the Reds. Liverpool lead 5-2 from the first leg at Anfield.

2005 Champions League winner with Liverpool Hamann said Buvac’s absence  was “huge news.”

“A big part of Klopp’s managerial style and his success is the close unity and togetherness of his coaching staff.

“So (this is) huge news and bad news for Liverpool.”

Asked about a possible falling out between the pair Hamann said: “It’s hard for me to imagine when you are about to go to a Champions League final.

“What can you fall out over?”
