It seems all of Serie A have set their sights on Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku after Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis disclosed his interest.

Lukaku was thought to be closing in on a move to Juventus but the deal hinged on Paulo Dybala moving in the opposite direction.

The Argentine has pushed back on plying his football at Old Trafford and that snag has allowed Inter to re-enter the race for the Belgian.

Antonio Conte has been desperate to sign Lukaku, a player he attempted to sign while Chelsea boss.

But reports in Italy over the weekend suggested Napoli could also contest for Lukaku’s signature with the club apparently willing to offer cash plus striker Arkadiusz Milik.

Although De Laurentiis is interested in the 26-year-old, no offer has been tabled.

“You know why there are rumours about him? Because I am good friends with his agent, Federico Pastorello, who I often wake up at dawn for a chat,” De Laurentiis told Sky Sport Italia.

“I asked him: ‘Do you think Lukaku would suit Napoli? Is he going to Juventus or not?’ We spoke in those terms, but then we know it’s in the interest of agents to make it seem as if we made an offer, as that raises the price tag for someone else.

“This is why I’d prefer it if the transfer market opened the day after the season ended and closed at the end of July.”
