  • Paris Saint-German star Neymar played down speculation over his future at the club, but refused to rule out a move away in the future.

Neymar joined from Barcelona in 2017 following a world-record €222million transfer, but rumours over a return to Spain, either with his former club or their fierce rivals Real Madrid, have followed him ever since he arrived at Parc des Princes.

The Brazilian addressed the speculation recently, saying there was ‘nothing concrete’ but stopping short of denying the possibility of a move.

“Rumours of me leaving? There have been rumours like that since I’ve become a pro,” Neymar told Canal.

“But there’s nothing concrete. As soon as there is something certain, I’ll talk about it and I’ll assume it, be sure of that.”

Neymar also spoke of his desire to lead PSG to the one trophy they have failed to win during an era in which they have become one of Europe’s biggest clubs: the Champions League.

The Ligue 1 champions face Manchester United next month in this season’s Round of 16, with the club having lost at the same stage in each of the last two seasons and failed to make it past the quarter-finals in the four seasons prior to that.

Neymar’s arrival was supposed to change the club’s fortune’s in Europe and the talisman said it was a “dream” of his to lift the trophy again, having won it with Barcelona in 2014-15.

“I want to win everything, especially the Champions League, since it’s every player’s dream,” he said.

“United will be a good game for us and for people who like football. What do we lack in order to win the Champions League? You have to grow in this competition, everyone must attack and defend well. We were good defensively in the first games, we’re getting better and better.”
