  • Neymar was suspended for three Champions League matches next season by UEFA for his tirade against match officials after PSG’s controversial defeat to Manchester United.

Neymar missed the 3-1 Champions League last 16 second leg due to injury. But he later took to social media and lambasted the match officials. United were awarded a stoppage-time penalty at the Parc de Princes after it was decided that Diogo Dalot’s shot hit the arm of Presnel Kimpembe, with VAR’s assistance. Marcus Rashford scored to level 3-3 and send United through on away goals.

“It’s a disgrace. They get four guys who don’t understand football to watch a slow motion replay in front of the TV,” Neymar wrote in Portuguese on Instagram.

Neymar was found guilty of “insulting/molesting acts against match official”, the governing body said in a statement.

The 27-year-old will now miss half of PSG’s group stage matches in the Champions League next season.

According to reports, Neymar was so livid with the decision that he had to be stopped by PSG staff from entering the referee’s dressing room.
