Paris Saint-Germain and Brazil defender Thiago Silva believes Neymar is aware of his mistakes and is hoping his compatriot will step up for his team this season.

Neymar was the centre of a never-ending drama in the transfer market, with Barcelona putting pressure on PSG to make the sale as the Brazilian sought a return to a team that he left two years ago.

PSG closed the door after Barcelona failed to meet their demands, leaving Neymar at the club for at least one more year.

“He also knows that he has made mistakes but has no bad intentions. This boy is amazing, I hope he’s going to have a great season. It will be unforgettable too because PSG will celebrate its 50 years,” he told reporters after Brazil’s 2-2 draw against Colombia in a friendly, according to Goal.

“Tuchel has always said he was counting on Neymar.

“If I do not say nonsense, he was already ready to play in the last match against Metz. But because of the situation on the transfer market, he had not played.

“But the coach could already count on him. So I think it’s important. Management also believes in him, otherwise, they would have let him go. We are happy about that.

“I hope he’s going to have better days. It’s really my wish because we know him, not just the player, but the person. Especially after the last year.”

Brazil head coach Tite revealed on Thursday his concerns over the situation surrounding Neymar at Paris Saint-Germain.

The forward has not played since suffering an ankle injury in a friendly against Qatar in June which ruled him out of the Copa America.

On Thursday Tite said the striker is ‘ready’ to play against Colombia in a friendly in Miami on Friday, although he is worried about his star player’s situation at PSG after the Brazilian’s transfer back to Barcelona fell through this summer.

Brazil are unbeaten in 18 matches since being knocked out of the 2018 World Cup by Belgium in the quarter-finals and beat Peru 3-1 in the Copa America final in July, while Colombia reached the last eight.

Ederson has revealed that Neymar’s failed move to Barcelona from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer has not affected his mood in the Brazil camp.

The Manchester City goalkeeper spoke at a news conference at the national squad’s hotel in Miami on Wednesday, ahead of the friendly international against Colombia on Friday.

He described superstar striker Neymar’s mood as ‘happy’, despite speculation suggesting he might leave club side Paris Saint-Germain in the European transfer window and expressed his own happiness at being nominated by FIFA as one of the goalkeepers of the year, alongside national teammate Alisson.

“I see him happy. Any player who wears Brazil’s national jersey feels happy. I can’t talk about this summer market because I don’t know what happened,” he said.
