  • Real Madrid are set for a marathon month after the international break ends, with the La Liga and European champions scheduled to play seven matches in 22 days.

It all starts with a home game against Levante on September 9, before kicking off their Champions League campaign against APOEL Nicosia at the Bernabeu four days later (September 13).

The European opener should see the return of Cristiano Ronaldo, who is currently serving a five-game domestic ban for pushing a referee against Barcelona last month. As the ban doesn’t apply to European games, the Portuguese star will be available for selection.

He will, however, miss Madrid’s match against Real Sociedad on September 17, before returning for a home game against Real Betis on September 20.

Three days later, Madrid will travel to the Basque country to face Alaves, before rounding off the month with a trip to Dortmund in the Champions League on September 26, followed by a home game against Espanyol on October 1.
