  • Ready to make his mark on La Liga: Ronaldo.

Cristiano Ronaldo will be back to lead Real Madrid’s La Liga title defence as Zinedine Zidane’s men host Real Betis at home on Wednesday.

Ronaldo was handed a five-match ban after pushing a referee in the Spanish Super Cup second leg against Barcelona back in August.

It will be the first time the Portugal international will feature in La Liga this season, with his only other appearance since the ban coming against Apoel Nicosia in the Champions League when Real Madrid won 3-0 comfortably, thanks to a brace from the man himself.

Meanwhile, the Whites recorded a 3-1 win over Real Sociedad in their last league fixture, after youngster Borja Mayoral and Gareth Bale were instrumental in earning them three points.

The 32-year-old forward will be tasked with trying to reduce Barcelona’s seven-point early advantage over Real at the summit of La Liga, following their resounding 6-1 win over Eibar on Tuesday.

Ronaldo’s counterpart, Lionel Messi too has been in sublime form lately, as he scored his 39th hat-trick for Barca in that win. The Argentinian has scored 12 goals in eight games in all competitions so far this season.
