In a repeat of last season’s final, Real Madrid and Juventus meet in the last-eight of the Champions League with the first tie taking place in Turin on Tuesday.

Max Allegri’s side knocked out Premier League outfit Tottenham to secure passage to a mouthwatering clash with Zinedine Zidane’s defending champions after they swept aside Paris Saint-Germain.

Here, we look at some of the key match facts and statistics ahead of the 20th European meeting between these two footballing institutions.

    JUVENTUS

    – Juventus progressed from all four two-legged CL knockout ties against Real Madrid (1995/96 quarterfinals, 2002/03 semifinals, 2004/05 Last 16 and 2014/15 semifinals).

    – Juventus have eliminated the holders of the CC/CL on six occasions, including when Real Madrid were the cup holders in 2002/03 and in 2014/15.

    – Juventus started this season’s CL campaign with a 3-0 defeat at Barcelona. No club that started their CL campaign with a defeat has ever won the competition. Two sides that kicked off with a loss reached the final: AC Milan in 1994/95 and Bayern München in 1998/99.

    – Juventus have received a record 23 red cards in the CL. The Juve v Real fixture is the fixture with most red cards, 6 (Juve 4, Real 2). In last season’s final, Juve’s Juan Cuadrado became the latest player to be sent off in this fixture.

    – Only Alessandro Del Piero (9) and Filippo Inzaghi (7) have scored more goals for Juve in the CL knockout phase than Gonzalo Higuain (5) and Paulo Dybala (5) (David Trezeguet and Alvaro Morata also on 5).

    REAL MADRID

    – Cristiano Ronaldo can become the first player to score in 10 successive CL appearances. Ruud van Nistelrooy scored in nine appearances in 2002-2003.

    – Cristiano Ronaldo can win a CL match for the 95th time, equalling the record set by Iker Casillas (95).

    – Ronaldo has scored in each of his previous five CL matches against Juventus (total 7 goals).

    – At seven goals against Gianluigi Buffon, Ronaldo is top scorer against Buffon in the CL, four more than the next players (Didier Drogba, Thomas Muller, Diego Tristan).

    – Real Madrid are hoping to become the first team since Bayern Munich in 1974, 1975, 1976 to win the Champions Cup/Champions League three times in a row.

    – Real have scored in their last 23 CL matches, since the 0-0 draw at Man City on 26 April 2016. Only Real themselves (34 matches in 2011-2014) and Barcelona (29 matches, 2009-2012) have netted in more consecutive CL fixtures.

    – Real Madrid (199) need one more goal to become the first side to score 200 CL goals in away matches.

    – Karim Benzema has scored just one goal in his last 16 CL knockout stage matches (at home v Napoli last season), failing to find the net in each of his last eight KO appearances.
