Luis Suarez grabbed the headlines with a brilliant hat-trick as Barcelona thrashed Real Madrid 5-1 at the Camp Nou … but who struggled for Los Blancos?

Check out our full player ratings below.

    REAL MADRID (4-3-3)

Thibaut Courtois 6. Decent first half stop to deny Arthur and was helpless for most of the goals, although perhaps went down too quickly for Suarez’s third.

Nacho 5. Really struggled defensively against Alba and offered little going forward. Moved central in the second half but still poor.

Raphael Varane 4. Conceded a penalty with a foolish challenge on Suarez to continue his shocking recent form. Subbed at half-time.

Sergio Ramos 6. Made a couple of good blocks including a key challenge on Alba. The best member of his team’s backline, but that’s not hard.

Marcelo 6. Surged forward to pull back a goal early in the second half and posed a regular threat before breaking down with injury.

Luka Modric 6. Anonymous in the first half but much better after the break, and unlucky not to level with a low shot against the post.

Casemiro 6. Regularly bypassed in midfield. Moved into a three-man defence for the second half  and did a better job there.

Toni Kroos 4. Not his game. Failed to impose himself in the first half and although the second started better, he was invisible near the end.

Gareth Bale 4. Subdued performance from the Welshman, who was booked for a foul on Rakitic and taken off. Failing to live up to expectations.

Karim Benzema 5. Figured prominently in his team’s second half renaissance but missed a handful of good chances including a free header at 2-1.

Isco 5. Buzzed around midfield and produced some nice touches, getting in some good positions, but was wasteful with his final ball.

    SUBSTITUTES

Lucas Vazquez 6. Came on as a wingback and made a positive difference, troubling Barca with his direct running and helping to shackle Alba.

Marco Asensio 5. Introduced for the latter stages in place of Bale but made little impact with Barca running riot by that stage.

Mariano 6. A desperate late roll of the dice after Marcelo’s injury. Teed up a chance for Benzema with an astute pass.
