A groin injury has ruled Sergio Ramos out of Spain’s weekend friendly against Bosnia-Herzegovina.

The La Roja captain will instead return to Real Madrid for treatment.

It’s not great news for Los Blancos boss Santiago Solari whose side has endured an injury crisis in defence.

However, while Nacho and Sergio Reguilon are sidelined for two months and two weeks, respectively, Jesus Vallejo, Raphael Varane, Dani Carvajal and Marcelo have just returned to training after spells out.

According to AS, Ramos was carrying the injury when he joined up with the Spain squad and was desperate to play against Croatia with qualification for the UEFA Nations League finals up on the line.

A 3-2 defeat though means the Spaniards now need England and Croatia to draw in Sunday’s final Nations League Group A4 fixture if they are to progress to the last four.
