Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos is surely not a popular figure among Liverpool fans after the ‘Mohammed Salah incident’ in the Champions League finals last season.
It’s now come to surface he’s not liked by some of the Liverpool players, too.
Dejan Lovren had an extremely public dispute with the Spaniard after Croatia’s 3-2 win in their Nations League fixture.
The Croat’s Reds’ teammate Virgil van Dijk has now expressed a polite criticism of Ramos’ game and mentioned he is not the kind of defender the Dutchman ‘likes’.
“He’s not the best,” Van Dijk told De Telegraaf.
“He’s a great player and I respect him for what he has achieved, but he’s not the kind of defender I like.”
However, Ramos’s Los Blancos partner Raphael Varane drew praise from the Liverpool defender.
“He [Varane] is my favourite,” he added.
“He’s an excellent defender who is still young and has improved.
“His way of defending is different because he tries to avoid being in situations where he has to intervene and tackle.”
