  • Real Madrid fans exploded with rage at Thibaut Courtois, with angry supporters taking to Twitter to label the Belgian the club’s worst-ever signing following Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to Eibar.

Eibar had only scored three goals against Real in their history, but managed to put three past Courtois in one afternoon as new Los Blancos boss Santiago Solari’s permanent reign got off to a shocking start.

Courtois got off to a nightmare start after Gonzalo Escalante opened the scoring after just 16 minutes. And the goalkeeper conceded two goals in quick succession in the second half – which sent fans into frenzy.

Sergi Enrich scored just seven minutes after the interval and former Middlesbrough star Kike got the third.

One Twitter user said: “Chelsea dodged a massive bullet on Courtois his mistake costing Real Madrid again.”

Another stated: “Thibaut Courtois has conceded more goals in the last month than Kepa Arrizabalaga has all season.”

Another went even further: “Thibaut Courtois is definitely Real Madrid’s worst signing ever.”

And supporters are now calling for the Belgian to be dropped and replaced by Costa Rica international Keylor Navas.

Eibar’s first ever win over the Spanish giants now sees them go just two points behind Real in the La Liga standings.
