  • Marco Asensio and Isco struck twice each as Real Madrid routed minnows Melilla to ease their way into the last 16 of the Copa del Rey with a 6-1 romp.

Javier Sanchez and Vinicius Junior were also on the score sheet as Los Blancos secured a 10-1 aggregate victory over two legs.

Here, we rate the performances of the Madrid players.

    STARTING XI (4-3-3)

Keylor Navas – Little to do other than a routine save early on. Beaten from the spot. 6

Alvaro Odriozola – Got down the right often and was comfortable at the back but must shoulder some blame in the build up to the penalty. 5

Jesus Vallejo – Formidable in defence. Saw plenty of the ball and was composed on it. A solid first game of the season. 7

Javi Sanchez – His positioning at the back was sound and took his goal well but was guilty of a clumsy challenge for the penalty. 6

Dani Carvajal – Adjusted well on the left and was replaced at half-time with the result already secure. 6

Federico Valverde – Was a creative for in midfield. Assured on the ball and always looking to play it forward. 6

Marcos Llorente – Again, looked like a fine stand-in for Casemiro. Like Carvajal, was brought off at half-time. 6

Isco – Captained the side on his first start under Santiago Solari and led from the front. Sublime curling finish from range for his first and capped off the scoring, slotting past the keeper with ease. 9

Marco Asensio – Scintillating display. A superb driving run and finish for his first and struck home emphatically for his second. Created several chances for his team-mates as well. 9

Mariano Diaz – Will be gutted not to get on the score sheet. Didn’t look fully fit. 5

Vinicius Junior – A live wire on the left flank. Had a couple of great chances in the first half but got his goal in the second and set up Asensio as well. Great things to come from this raw talent. 8

    Dazzling: Vinicius Junior.

    Dazzling: Vinicius Junior.

    SUBS

Dani Ceballos – Was disappointing after coming on for Llorente after the break, losing possession cheaply. 5

Fran Garcia – Replacing Carvajal at half-time, he impressed in the second 45, even picking up an assist. 7

Fidalgo – Was a late replacement for Vinicius and showed a few glimpses of his talent. N/A
