Real Madrid were humiliated at home by CSKA Moscow on Wednesday in a Champions fixture that ended 3-0 in favour of the visitors.

Isco had a game to forget and the fans at Santiago Bernabeu ensured that their unhappiness regarding the Spaniard’s performance came to his notice. The midfielder was treated to boos and jeers from the fans.

Marcelo defended the action of the fans and mentioned that it is within their rights to display any displeasure.

“The fans have the right to whistle if they are not happy with someone,” Marcelo said after the game.

The Brazilian spoke about how he has been at the receiving end of such a treatment in the past, but maintained that the team is united despite the crisis.

He said: “They have also done it to me.

“We are a team and we are going to work hard so that it doesn’t happen anymore.”

A 3-0 defeat was a shocking result, but Marcelo denies that Real Madrid gave up towards the end.

“In Madrid you have to fight until the end,” he added.

“We haven’t lowered our arms, it’s difficult to play in a game like that.

“Three-nil is a difficult score to overcome and we knew that but we tried until the end.”
