  • Isco and Solari have a strained relationship.

Isco‘s playing time has been limited under Santiago Solari, but the new Real Madrid manager gave the player his backing after Madrid’s fans subjected the playmaker to whistles during the team’s shock 3-0 loss to CSKA Moscow on Wednesday.

The loss was Madrid’s worst-ever European defeat at home, and their fans expressed their displeasure, with Isco targeted for a below-par performance that included a missed chance when through on goal.

He could be seen saying “What do you want?” in response to the fans’ jeers, which led to near-constant booing of the player for the next ten minutes – though other videos suggested he was merely arguing with a referee over being denied a corner-kick.

However, Solari has backed the 25-year-old to produce his best form in the famous white shirt again.

“He’s a mature, professional guy who has brought much joy to this club and we’re sure he’ll continue to do so,” Solari said.

“He works hard every day to give it his all, and a coach’s hardest job is to choose who is going to play and who will be on the bench.

“They’re all great players who have done great things. I heard applause the other day as well.

“The fans express themselves and the team must go in search of their support. We need it, it’s what we want.

Throughout the history of this club, everything we’ve achieved has come through unity with the fans. We hope they’ll help us and show their support tomorrow,” said Solari.

However, some other videos suggest that he could have been arguing with UEFA’s baseline referee and asking for a corner-kick.
