Threepeat champions Real Madrid were dumped out of the Champions League by sensational Ajax on a dramatic night at the Bernabeu.
Hakim Ziyech, David Neres, Dusan Tadic and Lasse Schone were the goalscoring heroes on a memorable night for the Dutch club but there were plenty more star showings.

REAL MADRID (4-3-3)
Courtois 6: Made key saves from Ziyech and Van de Beek at 2-0 down, and cannot be blamed for his team’s exit.
Carvajal 4: Seemed to be taken aback by the pace and precision of Ajax’s attacks and never recovered, frail all night.
Varane 5: Rattled a header against the bar at 0-0 but that was the high point as he was dragged from pillar to post.
Nacho 4: Sluggish for Ajax’s opener and that set the tone for a horror show, never looking comfortable at the back. Red compounded a miserable night.
Reguilon 4: A wake-up call for the young star who has been superb so far this season but was awful on this occasion.
Modric 6: The only creative element of Madrid’s midfield, he was bright in the first half but faded badly in the second.
Casemiro 3: Repeatedly embarrassed by Ajax’s movement and subtlety, offering little in defence and nothing in attack.

Kroos 4: Another anonymous display from a player who appears to be permanently stuck in second gear at the moment.
Vazquez 6: Had a snapshot saved and delivered a good cross for Varane’s early chance but was then forced off with injury.
Benzema 5: Tried to keep his team moving forward and fizzed a second half strike just wide, but lacked support in attack.
Vinicius 7: Added a welcome burst of pace, stretching the visiting defence, before injuring himself in the process of shooting.
SUBS
Bale 6: Introduced early and threatened occasionally, hitting the post, but didn’t do enough to salvage his Real career.
Asensio 5: Came on for the injured Vinicius in the first half and gave his team some hope with a goal, but little otherwise.
