  • Reports suggest that Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has his eyes set on Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, should Raphael Varane choose to leave the club in the summer.

The Frenchman has been linked with a move out of the Spanish capital and Premier League giants Manchester United are said to be in pole position to sign the defender.

Should this move materialise, Koulibaly could wear the Los Blancos jersey next season, AS reports.

Zidane has been a long-time admirer of the Senegal international. Madrid could face competition from the likes of Juventus and Manchester United.

Transfermarkt has valued the defender at €70 million, but the Spanish giants could end up spending more than that.

Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti has publicly stated that Koulibaly will not be sold.

The defender’s release clause amounts to €150m as of 2020, which means that Madrid will have to break their bank to secure the player.
