  • Football fans across the region are now able to livestream the MBS League matches of the 2019/20 Saudi Professional League (SPL) season.

GSA.Live, which is free to use from anywhere all over the world and available online, provides unprecedented live access to fixtures initially.

In addition to live league coverage, the platform plans to provide match highlights, reaction, statistics from all 16 MBS League clubs and beyond the game.

Future unique and exclusive behind-the-scenes content will give die-hard football fans unrivalled access to watch some of the biggest teams and players in the Middle East and Asia. GSA.Live will also eventually show a variety of wider premium international sport in the coming months.

KSA Sports continues their regular free-to-air coverage in Saudi Arabia with games televised across the 2019/20 season as part of a renewed deal with SPL.

Around 90 per cent of Saudis now watch videos on their mobile each month with a record 1.8 million football fans streaming last season’s Riyadh derby between Al Hilal and Al Nassr alone. GSA Live has been created to broaden multi-sport access beyond traditional channels free of charge in a single destination for fans.

This enhanced offering from the General Sports Authority (GSA) is part of a range of new SPL initiatives to break into the top 10 of international domestic leagues. It also brings fans in key markets, that have SPL international stars, closer to the action than ever before, including South America, North Africa, Europe and Australasia.

HRH Prince Abdulaziz Bin Turki AlFaisal, Chairman of the General Sports Authority of Saudi Arabia (GSA), said: “We’ve listened to football fans and have committed to making the MBS League, and a host of other amazing sport, more accessible on one digital platform.

“GSA.Live will let us engage with a wider sporting fanbase with innovative technology and premium content from anywhere in the world.”

This is another clear example of long-term investment to develop the sports sector – a fundamental pillar of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

Former international SPL legends Christian Wilhelmsson (Sweden), Camacho (Brazil) and Bashar Abdullah (Kuwait) helped launch the new platform, alongside players, ahead of the new 2019/20 MBS League season from King Abdullah Sports City.

The GSA.Live is accessible online and via mobile apps for football fans with the second round of the league kicking off on Thursday. Champions Al Nassr will travel to take on Al Fateh, while Riyadh rivals Al Hilal play away at Al Raed.
