The 30-year-old Belgium international, who joined Inter from Roma for €38 million in June, has struggled to secure a regular place in Luciano Spalletti’s starting XI at San Siro.
In a short statement published on Sunday, Inter announced they had suspended the former Cagliari midfielder “temporarily”, meaning he will miss Wednesday’s Serie A clash with title rivals Napoli.
Reports in Italy claim his lifestyle has put him at odds with Inter boss Spalletti and the club’s wider management.
