  • A typically pulsating Milan derby ended in a 3-2 victory for Inter Milan at the San Siro on Sunday.

AC Milan went behind early on when Matias Vecino scored with just three minutes on the clock. Stefan de Vrij doubled Inter’s advantage six minutes into the second half before Tiemoue Bakayoko pulled on back for the Rossoneri six minutes later.

Inter striker Lautaro Martinez then scored from the spot in the 67th minute after Matteo Politano was felled inside the area before Mateo Musacchio pulled one back for Milan.

Here, we rate the performances of Inter’s players.

    STARTING XI (4-3-3)

Samir Handanovic 7 – Made some outstanding saves, including one to deny Samu Castillejo late on.

Danilo D’Ambrosio 6 – Partly to blame for Milan’s second but made a heroic block to deny Patrick Cutrone deep into stoppage time.

Stefan de Vrij 8 – Superb header for Inter’s second. Composed at the back.

Milan Skriniar 7 – Headed wide from a glorious opportunity in the first half. Made clearance after clearance late in the game.

Kwadwo Asamoah 5 – Dealt with Suso early on but faded as the game progressed.

Matias Vecino 8 – Pounced for the opener well but should’ve had another when Perisic set him up at close range. A creative force.

Marcelo Brozovic 6 – Great cross for Skriniar which he put wide. Ran his socks off.

Roberto Gagliardini 6 – Provided steel in what was a tough midfield battle.

Matteo Politano 7 – Good cross for De Vrij to head home the second. Showed good bursts of pace and won the penalty.

Lautaro Martinez 8 – Clever knock-down for Vecino to score the opener and then converted from the spot for Inter’s third.

Ivan Perisic 7 – Involved in the build-up to the first two goals could’ve bagged an assist but for Vecino’s miss.

    SUBS

Borja Valero 5 – Never really got involved.

Antonio Candreva N/A (84′) – Provided fresh legs on the break late on.

    Andrea Ranocchia N/A (90+1′) – Barely got a touch.
