  • A typically pulsating Milan derby ended in a 3-2 victory for Inter Milan at the San Siro on Sunday.

AC Milan went behind early on when Matias Vecino scored with just three minutes on the clock. Stefan de Vrij doubled Inter’s advantage six minutes into the second half before Tiemoue Bakayoko pulled on back for the Rossoneri six minutes later.

Inter striker Lautaro Martinez then scored from the spot in the 67th minute after Matteo Politano was felled inside the area before Mateo Musacchio pulled one back for Milan.

Here, we rate the performances of AC Milan’s players.

    STARTING XI (4-3-3)

Gianluigi Donnarumma 6 – Perhaps could’ve done better for the penalty which wasn’t in the corner. Made a great save to avoid an own goal.

Davide Calabria 6 – Had a tough night against Politano and Ivan Perisic but made some excellent interventions.

Mateo Musacchio 7 – Made a couple of great blocks and pounced on the loose ball to score his side’s second.

Alessio Romagnoli 5 – Was committed to the cause but didn’t have his best game and picked up a soft booking.

Ricardo Rodriguez 4 – Poor defensive display form the Swiss. Hooked inside the hour.

Franck Kessie 4 – Didn’t make much of a contribution in attack or defence.

Tiemoue Bakayoko 7 – Exceptional header to pull one back for his side. Was one of their better performers throughout.

Lucas Paqueta 6 – Was a goal threat in the first half but seemed to tire and was replaced at half-time.

Suso 6 – Wayward with his crossing until he finally got it right for Milan’s second. Created a few more chances after that, including a late one for Samu Castillejo.

Krzysztof Piaktek 5 – Not at his devastating best. Could’ve made more of a couple of chances.

Hakan Calhanoglu 6 – Great delivery from a free-kick for Bakayoko’s goal but that was really his only notable contribution.

    SUBS

Samu Castillejo 6 (45′) – Gave away a penalty with a needless challenge. Did inject pace and drive into Milan’s play and was denied a late equaliser by Samir Handanovic.

Patrick Cutrone 6 (58′) – Was an attacking threat. Denied by a superb block late on.

Andrea Conti 5 (69′) – Got among the tackles. His red card was overturned after VAR review.
