  • Florent Malouda: On the move to Egypt.

Malouda, 35, was most recently playing for Delhi Dynamos in the Indian Super League after spells at Trabzonspor and Metz following his departure from Stamford Bridge in 2013.

The French winger, who is expected to land in Egypt to complete the deal on Wednesday, would add some much-needed experience to a Degla side currently just one place above the Egyptian Premier League relegation zone.

A source close to the deal told Sport360: “We want this signing to help us improve after some bad results recently. We feel Malouda has the character and leadership that the team lacks at the moment.”

    Florent Malouda: Major honours

    • Ligue 1 title: 2003–04,04–05, 05–06, 06–07
    • EPL title: 2009-10
    • FA Cup: 2008-09, 09-10, 11-12
    • Champions League: 2011-12

Malouda has a wealth of experience having won the Premier League, Champions League and three FA Cups with Chelsea, as well as four Ligue 1 titles with Lyon.

The Frenchman’s recent foray into Indian football saw him help Delhi Dynamos – managed by Brazil legend Roberto Carlos – to the semi-finals of the ISL.

The ex-Chelsea star would be the third foreign player in Degla’s squad, joining Nigerian forward Stanley Ohawuchi and Junior Mapuku of Congo at the Cairo club.
