  • The transfer window may not open again until January 1 2018 but that hasn’t put an end to plenty of speculation throughout Europe.

    THIBAUT COURTOIS

Atletico Madrid will attempt to bring Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois back to the Wanda Metropolitano if Jan Oblak leaves next summer, according to AS.

The Belgian is contracted to the west London giants until June 2019 but so far the two parties have yet to agree an extension.

It was earlier reported by Marca that the 25-year-old is keen to return to the Spanish capital with Real Madrid feeling he is a more attainable target than Manchester United’s David de Gea.

    RATING: 7/10

    VERDICT

Whilst Courtois is a key part of Antonio Conte’s side at Stamford Bridge, the man between the sticks is likely to find a switch to Atletico hard to turn down in the future – especially if there is no concrete update on his contractual renewal.

    LEON GORETZKA

Arsenal will open talks with Schalke star Leon Goretzka in January as they plan for life without Mesut Ozil, according to Daily Mail.

The 22-year-old is out of contract next summer and Arsene Wenger is keen to  bring the German international to the Emirates Stadium.

Despite widespread reports that Bayern Munich have already secured a deal with Goretzka – Arsenal are ready to nip in and agree a deal with the in-form midfielder.

    RATING: 7/10

    VERDICT

Goretzka is one of the stars of German football after his stunning displays for Joachim Low’s side in the Confederations Cup during the summer.

With Bayern Munich struggling at present, the 22-year-old could opt to pursue a new challenge in Premier League as Arsenal look for a midfielder capable of pulling the strings for years to come.

    RIYAD MAHREZ

Manchester City are ready to move for Leicester winger Riyad Mahrez as Pep Guardiola looks to add more firework to his attack, according to the Daily Mail.

The 26-year-old was linked with a host of clubs over the summer, and is likely to cost around €40 million after Roma had a series of bids rejected for the Foxes star.

Roma and Arsenal are said to no longer be interested in Mahrez which paves the way for Guardiola to make his move, potentially in January.

    RATING: 6/10

    VERDICT

Mahrez expressed his desire to leave the King Power Stadium in May, and a move to Manchester could be a solid option for him or he will have to look abroad.

Although €40 million is an expensive figure to meet for a player who has been inconsistent this campaign, it may be a fee the Sky Blues are willing to pay to bolster their attacking options.
