  • The transfer window may not open again until January 1 2018 but that hasn’t put an end to plenty of speculation throughout Europe.

    ANTOINE GRIEZMANN

Manchester United reached out to Atletico Madrid to enquire about Antoine Griezmann who came close to signing with the Premier League outfit in the summer. However, according to Mundo Deportivo, they were told that Barcelona are close to securing the Frenchman’s signature.

The Red Devils are still persisting with their efforts to sign Griezmann whose buy-out clause in July 2018 will be €100 million.

    RATING: 7/10

    VERDICT

It seems as though United may have missed their opportunity. When Griezmann was close to a move to Old Trafford in the summer, Neymar was still at Barcelona and the MSN trio had just ended another prolific season.

With the Brazilian at Paris Saint-Germain now and Luis Suarez struggling for his best form, there is space for Griezmann to shine in that attack even when Ousmane Dembele returns to fitness. It will take some convincing for United to lure him to the Premier League instead.

    PHILIPPE COUTINHO

Liverpool‘s CEO Peter Moore has said that he is unsure about Philippe Coutinho’s future. The club managed to fend off interest from Barcelona in the summer but January and beyond that is a whole other scenario.

    RATING: 5/10

    VERDICT

It’s no secret that Coutinho still harbours hopes of a move to Barcelona. However, with the club turning their attention to Griezmann and other targets, Liverpool’s resistance may be deemed more hassle than it’s worth.

The Brazilian has been in excellent form for the Reds and has certainly won the fans over. He looks set to stay until the summer at least.

    STEVEN N’ZONZI

Steven N’Zonzi has told France Football that his time at Sevilla will come to an end soon. The midfielder does not expect to feature for the club again beyond December.

    RATING: 9/10

    VERDICT

N’Zonzi already has one foot out the door but the question now is where he is off too. It’s widely reported that Sm Allardyce is eager to reunited with him at Everton. That look likely particularly given the poor form of Morgan Schneiderlin.
