  • The transfer window is well and truly open.

With the rumours growing in pace and volume during this ‘silly season’, it can be difficult and painstaking to separate the stories of some legitimacy from the rest of the white noise.

Fortunately, we’ve taken it upon ourselves to do it for you.

Below, you’ll find some of the latest transfer news churned out of the rumour mill broken down and analysed for your benefit along with our calculated predictions.

MATEO KOVACIC – REAL MADRID TO MANCHESTER UNITED

Manchester United are eyeing up a move for the elusive Real Madrid midfielder, according to the Daily Mail.

Why it will happen: The 24-year-old is unhappy with the amount of game time he has received at the Bernabeu and is keen to leave the Spanish capital.

Why it won’t happen: Although there are no shortage of potential suitors, Kovacic may want to stay and fight for his place next term under new boss Julen Lopetegui.

Prediction: It is a tough call at the moment given he is immersed in the World Cup, but expect the Croatian to make a big call on his future when he returns to Spain.

    Rating – 6/10

EVER BANEGA – SEVILLA TO ARSENAL

Arsenal are interested in signing the Sevilla central midfielder, according to The Metro.

Why it will happen: The €20m (Dh80m)-rated midfielder has played for new Gunners boss Unai Emery at both Valencia and Sevilla, which may help his push for a move to the Emirates Stadium.

Why it won’t happen: Although Banega has a close relationship with Emery, it is unlikely he will leave Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium, with reports suggesting he will put pen to paper on a contract extension after the World Cup.

Prediction: Sevilla will do everything in their power to prevent Banega from leaving as he is a key part of an improving team under Pablo Machin.

    Rating – 4/10

ALEX SANDRO – JUVENTUS TO MANCHESTER UNITED

Juventus reportedly value their in-form left back at €60m (Dh258.1m), which could reignite Manchester United’s interest in signing the Brazilian star, according to Manchester Evening News.

Why it will happen: With Luke Shaw and Matteo Darmian set to leave this summer, United are hopeful of securing the 28-year-old’s services.

Why it won’t happen: The Brazil international is also a target for both Chelsea and Manchester City and is set to wait before making a big decision on his future.

Prediction: The Old Lady are keen to sell and this deal should be pushed through once a potential bid is submitted.

    Rating – 7/10
