The transfer window is well and truly open.

With the rumours growing in pace and volume during this ‘silly season’, it can be difficult and painstaking to separate the stories of some legitimacy from the rest of the white noise.

Fortunately, we’ve taken it upon ourselves to do it for you.

Below, you’ll find some of the latest transfer news churned out of the rumour mill broken down and analysed for your benefit along with our calculated predictions.

    TONI KROOS TO MANCHESTER UNITED

Manchester United are hoping to strengthen their midfield with the signing of Toni Kroos, according to AS.

Why it will happen: After four seasons at Real Madrid and winning numerous trophies, the German might well want a new challenge. By joining the Red Devils, not only will he bolster their midfield options but will be one of their key players alongside Paul Pogba, and possibly among their highest-paid.

Why it won’t happen: Manchester United will find it hard to convince Real Madrid to sell one of their top stars especially as new head coach Julen Lopetegui already rates him highly and considers the midfielder an integral player.

Prediction: The 28-year-old has given no indication that he wants to leave and looks certain to stay in Spain for at least this summer.

    ANTHONY MARTIAL TO TOTTENHAM

Tottenham are interested in signing the French forward, who has one year remaining on his contract, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Why it will happen: The player’s agent has publicly said that the Frenchman wants to leave after not being a regular start at United. With one more year on his contract, United might feel it’s best to offload the young star.

Why it won’t happen: The two clubs have a bitter relationship when it comes to transfer negotiations in the past. Tottenham wanted more than £55m for Toby Alderweireld before United ended their interest earlier this summer, according to reports. Also, United would not want to sell to a Premier League title rival.

Prediction: Unless the two clubs come to an agreement over transfer fees, expect the Frenchman to stay at Old Trafford.

    ALLISON TO CHELSEA

Chelsea could have a new number one next season according to Marca. The west London side are close to signing Allison from AS Roma.

Why it will happen: With Chelsea ready to sell Thibaut Courtois, the Brazilian number one would automatically become the club’s first-choice keeper.

Why it won’t happen: The West London side are on a growing list of admirers which includes Real Madrid. It would need a lot of convincing if Allison does make the move to London.

Prediction: The Brazilian looks certain to leave AS Roma this summer but where his next destination could be is still not clear.
