  • Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon would be happy to see Cristiano Ronaldo sign for the Serie A champions.

The Real Madrid star has been heavily linked to Juve in recent weeks, with a €100 million move touted.

Buffon, himself, won’t though get the opportunity to play with the 33-year-old having signed for Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer.

“I wouldn’t be surprised to see Ronaldo at Juventus,” he told Sky Sport on Monday.

“It would make me happy because it is what the Juventus world needs, to find new idols and adore them.”

Ronaldo scored three goals against Juventus in last season’s Champions League quarter-final, including a terrific bicycle kick.

    Mutual respect: Buffon and Ronaldo.

And Buffon believes it was those goals and not CR7 joining the club after his departure that hurt him the most.

“It doesn’t bother me. It bothers me the two goals that he scored against me in the final and the ones that he got last season.”

The Portugal forward is rumoured to be on the verge of quitting Los Blancos after almost a decade at the Bernabeu and the veteran goalkeeper believes Ronaldo could boost the game in Italy.

“It would be the best advertising for Italian football. It is confirmation of how much Juventus, with [chairman] Andrea Agnelli and his family, can adapt to the times and even anticipate them.”
