Manchester United have made a surprise move to try and sign Barcelona defender Yerry Mina, the Sun on Sunday reports.
The towering 23-year-old centre-back, who impressed for Colombia in the World Cup, has struggled to settle at the Camp Nou since his arrival in January and failed to break into the first-team picture on a regular basis.
Everton had been linked with Mina but he is thought to prefer a move to United as the Red Devils prepare to conjure up a £35 million offer.
That sum is lower than Barcelona’s £50million asking price, nevertheless, the Spanish giants could be happy to get the former Palmeiras man off the books.
Mina would add significant robustness to Jose Mourinho’s defence at a time when their hopes of signing Leicester Harry Maguire begin to fade.
