  • Gomes lasted only 20 minutes against Tottenham.

Barcelona‘s hopes of selling wantaway midfielder Andre Gomes have been hit after the Portuguese star limped out of their pre-season friendly against Tottenham with a hamstring injury on Saturday night.

Ernesto Valverde was forced to withdraw the 24-year-old after just 20 minutes of the clash with Mauricio Pochettino’s men, however, the full extent to the problem has not yet been revealed.

Even so, the Barcelona boss expects Gomes to miss the rest of the club’s pre-season campaign and that could put off a number of clubs, including the player’s former side Valencia, who were keen to sign him ahead of the new La Liga season.

The former Benfica star has struggled to settle at the Camp Nou since his switch from Los Che in the summer of 2016 and has made up the numbers stateside given Barca have a clutch of stars still holidaying after the World Cup.
