  • Wanted man: Steven N'Zonzi.

The summer transfer window is in full swing especially with Premier League clubs racing to get deals over the line before their August 9 deadline.

With the rumours growing in pace and volume during this ‘silly season’, it can be difficult and painstaking to separate the stories of some legitimacy from the rest of the noise.

Fortunately, we’ve taken it upon ourselves to do it for you.

Below, you’ll find some of the latest transfer news churned out of the Rumour Mill broken down and analysed for your benefit along with our calculated predictions.

STEVEN N’ZONZI – SEVILLA TO ARSENAL

N’Zonzi could be on the move.

Unai Emery is keen on signing Steven N’Zonzi at Arsenal but the club have told him he needs to sell players in order to do just that, the Daily Mail reports.

Why it will happen: Emery and N’Zonzi worked well together at Sevilla and Arsenal do look short in terms of squad depth. Granit Xhaka has been a little hit and miss. His contract expires next season.

Why it won’t happen: Freeing up enough funds for the transfer or failing to move on other midfielders may prove to be stumbling blocks.

Prediction: There’s a good chance that the likes of Petr Cech, Lucas Perez and Mohamed Elneny in particular will be sold this summer and that should help bring N’Zonzi to the Emirates.

    Rating: 7/10

N’GOLO KANTE – CHELSEA TO PSG

    Marathon man: N’Golo Kante.

Paris Saint-Germain continue to pursue Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante, according to the Mirror.

The midfielder was integral to France’s World Cup-winning campaign in Russia this summer and has attracted the attention of the Ligue 1 giants.

Why it will happen: It’s not completely clear yet how integral Kante is to Maurizio Sarri’s system. If a big enough bid comes in, the Italian may decide to allow the Frenchman to leave in favour of someone who offers more on the ball.

Why it won’t happen: Odds are Sarri is keen on keeping Kante but even if he isn’t, the player is much loved at the club and as is often the case at Stamford Bridge, the manager doesn’t have the final say on transfers. He seems settled at Chelsea as well.

Prediction: Despite the opportunity to return to France, Kante seems like he has plenty more to offer Chelsea who are well aware of his worth.

    Rating: 4/10

LUKA MODRIC – REAL MADRID TO INTER MILAN

    Luka Modric.

    Schemer: Real Madrid maestro Modric.

Luka Modric deservedly picked up the Golden Ball at the World Cup for his efforts and Real Madrid would’ve braced themselves for a few bids for the midfield maestro.

Few would’ve expected an approach from Inter Milan but the Serie A outfit are serious about recruiting Modric, journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports.

Why it will happen: There is a strong Croatian contingent at Inter and Modric may be tempted to move on from Madrid where he’s already conquered it all.

Why it won’t happen: Julen Lopetegui will not entertain the prospect of losing one of his finest passers. Given his style of play, Modric may prove to be one of the key players in the new system.

Prediction: At 32, Modric still has a couple of years at the top level given his role in the team. He may to want to think of life after Madrid just yet and even if he does give it some thought, Lopetegui should be able to convince him to stay.

    Rating: 3/10
