Frenkie de Jong’s performances for Ajax this season are seeing his transfer value increase amid continued speculation of a move to Barcelona next summer.
The La Liga champions were turned down this summer with a reported €30million bid knocked back as Ajax held their ground on their stance of not selling any of their young stars during the transfer window.
Earlier this month, it was reported the Dutch club have an asking price of €75million for a player who’s been earmarked as a long-term midfield star by the hierarchy at the Nou Camp.
However, given the 21-year-old’s form, that price could go up – especially if Real Madrid and Manchester United, who have also been linked with the player, make their interest concrete.
De Jong rumouredly has a desire to play with Lionel Messi, but at the moment his future is up in the air – as are Barcelona’s plans for him.
