  • Milan Skriniar was solid against Barcelona

Milan Skriniar made the headlines for all the right reasons on Tuesday night after an incredible defensive performance in Inter’s Champions League draw against Barcelona at the San Siro.

Head coach Luciano Spalletti was quick to heap praise on the centre-back, who was crucial to a stout defence until Malcom broke the deadlock in the 83rd minute.

Skrinar had reportedly already drawn interest from the likes of Manchester United, Barca and Real Madrid.

And Spalletti insisted that the Slovak won’t leave Inter for less than €100m – before joking that he wouldn’t mind a €40m tip to go with it.

“How much is Skriniar worth? €100m,” said Spalletti after the game.

“If I were Barca, I’d offer €120m and I’d say, ‘€20m is tip’. If I were Real Madrid, I’d offer €140m, of which €40m is tip.”

Skriniar’s efforts were not in vain, as Mauro Icardi popped up soon after Malcom’s opener to rescue a point and keep Inter on track for the UCL’s Round of 16.

“We had character,” Spalletti added. “Mentally we were very good, we were always available. We deserved to score, because of the emotional reaction we had to going behind. It was a deserved goal because we were strong.”
