  • Barcelona will have to wait until the summer to potentially land Krzysztof Piatek after Genoa revealed they are prepared to be patient about the prolific centre forward’s future.

Piatek, 23, has scored 13 times in 11 appearances since an unheralded switch from Cracovia in June. Such form has alerted the likes of the La Liga champions, who’ve reportedly earmarked him as a long-term replacement for Uruguay superstar Luis Suarez.

Speaking to DAZN, Genoa CEO Giorgio Perinetti warned suitors – that also reportedly include Borussia Dortmund and Napoli – that they will only open talks about a possible sale late into 2019.

He said: “We will only talk about his future in the spring, or at the end of the championship.”

Piatek has gone goalless in his last five appearances for Genoa.
