Manchester United have been unsuccessful in their attempts to sign Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli.
According to TvC Sports, the Red Devils launched an £80m bid for the Senegal centre-back, a fee that would’ve made him the most expensive defender of all-time, surpassing the £75m Liverpool paid for Virgil van Dijk last January.
Jose Mourinho is desperately trying to piece together a formidable defence at Old Trafford after missing out on targets in the summer but Napoli are reluctant to part with their prized defender.
The Serie A outfit will accept nothing less than £90m for the 27-year-old.
