Santiago Solari clearly does not have Isco in his plans. What was a mere murmer a few weeks ago has now become tacit after the Spaniard was left out of Real Madrid’s squad that travelled to Rome for their Champions League fixture on Wednesday.

The midfielder is yet to start a match under Scolari, with Marco Asensio being preferred over him.

And former Barcelona player Sergi Barjuan has had his say over the matter and joked that Isco should consider joining Los Blancos’ eternal rivals, Barca.

The 46-year-old believes that the former Malaga man has all the traits to do well at the Catalan club.

“I don’t know how each coach manages their starting line-up and backups, but it’s true that coaches are there to take decisions,” he said of the Isco situation on Radio MARCA.

“Solari took a decision. From Barcelona’s point of view, he is a player who could interest them because he plays with touch and can link up with people well.

“With this, we’re speaking a little bit in a joking manner. In the end, the season is long and Real Madrid will have a lot of matches and will need everyone.”

Barjuan has represented two of Madrid’s biggest rivals in his playing career – Barca and Atletico Madrid.
