  • RB Leipzig could be resigned to losing star man Timo Werner to Bayern Munich after the German striker made it clear he is interested in joining the Bavarian giants.

Werner’s current deal at Leipzig runs for another two seasons, leaving him in a position to either sign a fresh contract or make a move at the end of the season.

According to Bild, the Bundesliga champions lead the race to sign Werner, who was keen for a switch towards the end of last season.

The 22-year-old, who has struck 55 times in 96 matches, admits if he wants to stay in Germany then Bayern are the only club he would like to join.

“I have no time pressure. I can think about it in peace and decide in the new year,” Werner told Sky Germany after RB Leipzig’s 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich.

“If you play at RB Leipzig and want to stay in Germany, there is really only one club where you can switch to.

“Of course, staying in Leipzig is also an option, but it’s out of the question that other teams are in the race as well.”
