  • Struggling to pick out the facts from the figures? Reality from the rubbish? Sense from the silly season? We’ve got you sorted in our daily dose of the Transfer Predictor, where we round up the latest rumours with an analytical spin.

    We sort through the most eye-catching transfer reports of the past 24 hours and give a balanced judgment on whether the move really will happen – and why.

    Today’s edition features potential signings for Manchester City, Tottenham and Chelsea.

    NABIL FEKIR

    RUMOUR: Lyon -> £53m -> Manchester City

    Lyon’s attacking midfielder Nabil Fekir is wanted by Manchester City, reports the Daily Express.

    WHY IT WILL HAPPEN: Lyon are ready to cash in on Fekir who lit up Ligue 1 last season, scoring 12 goals and providing nine assists in all competitions. With Pep Guardiola looking to add midfield reinforcements this summer, the 25-year-old would be a worthy addition as the Sky Blues attempt target domestic and European success.

    WHY IT WON’T HAPPEN: Fekir is captain of Lyon and may feel staying at Groupama Stadium is the best option for his career. Although he is still only 25, a move to Man City could come with limited game time.

    PREDICTION: 4/10

    TANGUY NDOMBELE

    RUMOUR: Lyon -> £88m -> Tottenham

    Tottenham have drawn up a wishlist of players as they hope to mount a fresh assault on the Premier League and Champions League next season, and Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele is the top target, according to the Daily Mirror.

    WHY IT WILL HAPPEN: The 22-year-old is one of the hottest properties on the transfer market and his passing ability, vision and work rate could make him a star man in North London for years to come. Spurs can lure Ndombele with the prospect of competing strongly on both domestic and European fronts and a place in the starting line-up.

    WHY IT WON’T HAPPEN: The French side want a hefty £88 million for Ndombele, but Spurs’ offer didn’t come anywhere close to that asking price, which could force them to pull out of a potential deal.

    PREDICTION: 3/10

    ELSEID HYSAJ

    RUMOUR: Napoli -> £45m -> Chelsea

    Elseid Hysaj wants to leave Napoli this summer and could be heading to either Chelsea or Manchester United, reports the Daily Mirror.

    WHY IT WILL HAPPEN: If Maurizio Sarri were to remain in charge of Chelsea, it’d make sense for the Albanian international to move to West London. Cesar Azpilicueta hasn’t been at his best for much of last season, while Hysaj is a player who Sarri knows and trusts, having managed him at Napoli.

    WHY IT WON’T HAPPEN: Chelsea face a potential transfer ban and, unless it is overturned by UEFA over the coming weeks, will not be able to sign any players for two transfer windows, which gives Manchester United the advantage if they wish to sign the 25-year-old.

    PREDICTION: 5/10
