  • Benfica have confirmed they are considering an offer of 126 million euros (£112.8m) from Atletico Madrid for 19-year-old Joao Felix.

La Liga giants Atletico have not made an announcement on the offer but have been earmarking replacements for Antoine Griezmann, who announced last month he would leave in the summer after spending five seasons in the Spanish capital.

The bid is more than the Portuguese forward’s 120 million euro release clause, with Atletico proposing to pay in instalments, but is yet to be accepted by Benfica.

In a statement to the Portuguese Securities Market Commission, published on Benfica’s website, the club said: “Atletico Madrid submitted a proposal for the acquisition of the sports rights of player Joao Felix for a total amount of 126 million euro, which is being analysed.”

Felix, who has also been linked with Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Real Madrid, scored 15 goals in 26 appearances in his first season of senior football last term.

If accepted, the transfer would be the fifth most expensive after Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele.
