  • Great facilities: IFA Camps are a great way for your kids to get active this summer.

If your children love football or basketball, then you may want to consider IFA Sport’s summer camps that begin from Sunday, June 15.

Taking place at Dubai World Trade Centre as part of Dubai Sports World, the 10-week programme for both sports is for children aged four to 17.

Both football and basketball programmes run simultaneously with two sessions per day from Sunday through to Thursday and are from 09:00 to 12:00 and 13:00 to 16:00.

The prices for football are Dh125 per person for a single session, while to attend the full day costs Dh200. IFA are also offering special weekly prices of Dh500 for one session per day, or Dh800 for two sessions per day.

If your child wants to join the basketball programme, then it’s Dh125 per person per day (Sunday to Thursday), or Dh500 for the week.

Since establishing in 2004, IFA has grown in popularity, and they are keen to build on last year’s success where over 100 kids attended the opening day.

Former Premier League footballer Dale Gordon, who will lead the camp, said: “It’s a great experience for all kids to attend the IFA Summer Camp.

“The facilities are amazing and playing on the modern 4G surface which is just like real grass, really heightens the feel of the game.”

Gordon will be running different sessions and tournaments throughout the summer which will be all age specific. Last year, children focused on different aspects of football such as shooting, passing, dribbling, skills and defending. This year will be the same, plus a session for goalkeepers.

There will also be competitions and prizes, including the Speed Shot Challenge – a special radar measuring how hard you strike the ball – and the Accuracy Challenge where players have to aim their shot through different targets to score points.

Whether it’s basketball or football, Chris Brookman, head coach at IFA Sport, said the children will have great fun.

He said: “There will be a big buzz inside the camp. When kids go to a summer camp the one thing they want is it to be busy. And we are sure it will be busy. “They will certainly enjoy themselves and it provides a good opportunity to make new friends.”
