You can test your gaming skills on the virtual pitches of FIFA 14 this weekend at the summer tournaments hosted by Power League Gaming at Magic Planet in Dubai.
The live contests, held on Friday and Saturday exclusively at City Centre Mirdif and Mall of the Emirates, respectively, will give gamers the chance to earn their spot in the upcoming Million Player challenge in Abu Dhabi.
With the popularity of FIFA at an all-time high and the timing coinciding with the World Cup in Brazil, the turnout should be strong.
“Anyone from teens to grandparents can enter, there is no limits with FIFA,” said Adham Badawy, senior marketing manager of Magic Planet.
The age resitriction is 10 and above and the registration deadline will close 30 minutes before the start of the event (15:00). The game will be played on the PlayStation 4 platform and will feature a head-to-head, single elimination format.
The length of halves will be four minutes in the group and knock out stage, and six minutes in the qualifiers and final. The other match settings can be viewed at www.powerleaguegaming.com.
Each day of the tournament, 500 winners will receive a ticket to the Million Player, which will run from June 26 to the day of the final on July 26 at Al Jazira’s Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi.
A number of prizes will be up for grabs with the first-place finisher winning Dh1 million. Second and third place will receive cars, while fourth to 16th place will get cash ranging from Dh5,000 to Dh15,000. Gifts will go to finishers from 17th to 256.
