The UAE's hopes of AFC U19 Championship glory came to an end today after Dr. Abdulla Misfer's side lost 1-0 to hosts Myanmar in the quarter-final in Yangon.
Than Paing's 52nd minute tap-in gave Myanmar the win over the UAE, sending them through to a first semi-final in the competition since 1971.
It is a disappointing end to an encouraging tournament for Misfer's youngsters who were unbeaten as Group B winners before taking on Myanmar.
Coach Gerd Zeise had labelled the game as Myanmar's "biggest in history" before kick-off and will now prepare his team for their semi-final on Monday against either Qatar or China.
