  • Amor says Barcelona want to win three trophies by the end of the season.

A treble is certainly a possibility for Barcelona this season. The Catalan giants are eight points clear of Atletico Madrid at the top of La Liga table and seem to have the title all but secured.

A Copa del Rey trophy beckons too with Sevilla awaiting Erensto Valverde’s men in the final.

Then there is the small matter of the Champions League where they have been drawn to face Italian club AS Roma in the quarter-finals after eliminating Premier League champions Chelsea in the last round.

Barcelona’s director of institutional relations Guillermo Amor made no secret of the club’s ambitions for the season when the Champions League last-eight draw was made in Nyon, Switzerland.

“We want to win everything. As Barcelona, our objective is to win all three competitions, Champions League included,” Amor said.

“We are doing well In La Liga, where we’re in a good position, we’re in the cup final on April 21. We will see what happens in Champions League. But you have to take things step by step. You can’t think about final when not you’re not there, you have to focus on the next challenge, which is the quarterfinal,” he added.

The Barcelona man was not taking the Serie A side lightly though his side might have avoided the big guns in the draw.

Barcelona put Chelsea to the sword in the last 16 clash.

Barcelona put Chelsea to the sword in the last 16 clash.

“You never know what’s best, whether it’s better to face a team now or in a semifinal. Everyone left is a difficult opponent. You have to respect everyone because anything can happen over two legs. The Italian sides are reliable, they compete well and as a team, they can always beat you,” Amor explained.

On the other hand, Roma director of football Monchi minced no words when he said that his side had got the most difficult draw possible.

“You can’t say we’ve had much luck: we’ve drawn the most difficult team, the best team in the world. There are no easy teams at this stage and Barcelona are the favourites in the tie but no one should write Roma off. There’s huge excitement about the tie and we hope we can compete against them,” Monchi stated.

“Barcelona and (Manchester) City are the teams playing at the highest level, but anyone would have been difficult: Real Madrid, Juventus, Bayern,” he added.
