  • Ronaldo and Dybala.

Juventus secured a 1-0 win over Manchester United in a Champions League group stage clash on Tuesday night.

Cristiano Ronaldo was once again victorious on his second return to Old Trafford since his departure over nine years ago but it was Paulo Dybala who scored what proved to be the winner in the 17th minute.

United emerged from the break a better side but the Italian champions were still able to see out the win comfortably.

Here, we rate the performances of Juventus’ players.

    STARTING XI

Wojciech Szczesny – Might as well have not shown up for the first half and while United were better in the second, still didn’t really have a save to make. 7

Joao Cancelo – Was a significant attacking threat for his side as he timed his runs past Anthony Martial to perfection while containing the Frenchman at the other end. 8

Leonardo Bonucci – Held his ground well and complimented his central defensive partner. Did well to cope with United’s onslaught. 7

Giorginio Chiellini – Commanded the defence and dominated Romelu Lukaku. Was crucial in the second half, making seven clearances. 8

Alex Sandro – Got down the left flank well but wasn’t effective in the final third. Did a good job at the back, though. 6

Juan Cuadrado – Got some joy down the right with some help from Cancelo and was able to make a few threatening passes into the box. 7

Rodrigo Bentancur – Recycled possession well, making the most passes on the night and helped defend set-pieces. 6

Miralem Pjanic – Shone with his slick passing in the first half but didn’t feature prominently in the second as Juventus went on the back foot. 7

Blaise Matuidi – Came out second best in a few duels with Paul Pogba and made a few rash challenges. Managed to work David De Gea on one occasion. 6

Paulo Dybala – Excellent movement in the first half and took his goal well before curling another effort wide. Had no impact after the break. 7

Cristiano Ronaldo – Always a threat. Had defenders snapping at his heels. Had a couple of stinging efforts on goal. His cross led to the chance for Dybala to score. 7
