Mohamed Elneny is a major doubt to miss the World Cup with Egypt after the midfielder was stretchered off the field while playing for Arsenal against West Ham on Sunday.
In what marked the first game since Arsene Wenger announced his impending departure as Arsenal boss, Elneny was visibly emotional after sustaining an ankle injury that saw the game stop for several minutes in the first half.
In a coming together with West Ham midfielder Mark Noble, Elneny landed awkwardly on his ankle – and with less than two months to go before the World Cup, Egypt may have to start planning for life without one of their stars.
