With TrainYas, GoYas, iTrainSaturday, TrainDubai and TrainAlAin proving to be hugely popular, Daman have launched their free TrainZSC to mark their 10th year anniversary.
To be held at Zayed Sports City stadium between 18:00 to 21:00, on Thursday, Abu Dhabi residents will have the opportunity to engage in vertical training by climbing the stadium steps, while also having the chance to walk or run around the track.
And if you miss this week’s session, there will be lot more opportunities to join with the event being held on the last Thursday of every month.
It’s part of Daman’s initiative in promoting a healthy lifestyle and open to people of all abilities – whether you exercise regularly or not. Besides the activities, Daman are also offering free health checks, while there’s a children’s play area as well.
“Daman is 10 years old and to mark this momentous occasion we wanted to give something back to the community,” said Dr Michael Bitzer, CEO at Daman.
“TrainZSC is a remarkable and unprecedented opportunity for residents of Abu Dhabi to get to know a national icon, the National Stadium at Zayed Sports City, through a fitness initiative.
“For the first time in Abu Dhabi we will be able to go inside the stadium and create a step challenge, which is the first of its kind.”
Among those who will be attending is Egyptian triathlete and Daman ActiveLife ambassador, Omar Nour and he added: “I am honoured to be a part of an initiative that encourages the community towards healthier, more active lifestyles. TrainZSC is a great way to start the weekend and end the month on the right foot.”
Zayed Sports City are no strangers to hosting events with football, rugby and tennis matches among the wide range of sports played. And its general manager, Barry Bremner, is delighted to be associated with the event.
“We are excited for our partnership with Daman on TrainZSC as this new programme is perfectly aligned with our mission to continually engage the greater Abu Dhabi community through health and fitness activities,” he said.
“Programmes such as TrainZSC make a direct impact on the health and quality of life for UAE residents and we are proud to be a central player in this movement.”

**Note: Since going to print the Beachfest has been postponed to a later date. More information will follow when we have it.**
Gladiators BeachFest will hit Dubai’s Kite Beach, located behind Sunset Mall, Friday with a challenging and fun obstacle course.
The event is organised by Corporate Games, who are back with another exciting beach event after the success of the Del Monte Beach Games last year.
Gladiators Challenge have also teamed up with Corporate Games for the imitative with the Dubai Sports Council to promote wellbeing amongst the UAE community.
Everyone is encouraged to come down on the day to give the obstacle course a try.
From climbing to crawling to scaling, the course won’t be a walk in the park. Far from it, actually, with cool elements such as tyre runs, tunnel crawls, wall climbs, a spider web, balance beams, sand bag pick-up, monkey bars and hurdle jumps.
Two unique aspects of the course will have participants testing themselves in the water with sea kayaks and stand-up paddle boards (SUPs).
Entry costs Dh50 and each person will get two attempts to record the best time possible to be eligible for prizes.
Winners will be awarded across four categories for the top time – men’s, women’s, under 16s and a team classification (average time will be calculated for the number of participants on the team).
The obstacle course won’t be the only thing to enjoy, however.
Yoga will kick-off the day with a morning session at 09:00 with Holistic Dani. Bring your mats and clear your mind before going through the ringer later in the afternoon.
A sports village with free activities will also be open to the public. Try out different sports and pick up a new hobby with offerings from Royal Football Academy, Vapero beach volleyball, Beach Tennis Middle East and Speedminton, along with fitness classes from PACE body coaching and BetterBody4Me.
You can even get involved with pick-up activities such as tug of war, bubble soccer and ultimate Frisbee.
Red Bull has you covered with music throughout the day and some shade in the chill out zones, while Cycle Hub will be exhibiting their FatBikes for riding on the beach.
