If you’re looking to learn what it takes to become a coach or want to enhance your knowledge, then you may want to consider signing up for the It’s Just Football’s (IJF) Prep Coaching Seminar.
Registration numbers have been encouraging with 16 entries so far, but you can still join them for the event from May 19 to 21 at Jebel Ali Centre of Excellence in Dubai.
Run by Louis Lancaster and Paul Collins, who are Academy and Lead Development coaches with English outfits Watford and Middlesbrough, the club that secured promotion to English Premier League on Saturday, the course will include theory and practical elements such as club philosophies and dealing with people.
IJF, one of the top football academies in the UAE, are no strangers to hosting coaching programmes. Their FA International Foundation Courses have been a huge success since it was first launched in 2014. And their managing director Chris Brown insists this month’s programme will be no different.
“The It’s Just Football’s Prep Coaching Seminar is aimed for those people who are not only looking to make a step in coaching but for coaches to build their knowledge,” he said.
The classroom: The programme will be held at the Jebel Ali Centre of Excellence.
“It will give them an opportunity to have a great insight into how the English coaching education system works as well as how the youth academy system works at two of the most successful academies in England. People will learn the different types of process into what skills are required to succeed in coaching all the way to the top.
“Both Paul Collins and Louis Lancaster are highly respected within the youth game in England and are excellent coaches. These are two guys, who I know really well, that have gone through the whole process and hold top coaching qualifications.”
The course is delivered over three days – Thursday, 18:00 to 22:00, Friday, 09:00 to 17:00 and Saturday 09:00 to 13:00. Registration costs Dh1,500 per person while group discounts are also available.
“It will be three days of great learning for those who sign up,” said Brown. “Coaching is an important aspect in football today and people will be fascinated with what Louis and Paul say.
“It will give them a lot of ideas and a good insight of the pathways in coaching in England. If people are thinking of coaching at the top level one day, perhaps in England, or just interested what is needed, then this is one course worth signing up for.”
