The European Championships and Wimbledon just concluded in exciting fashion, but there’s plenty of sport still left this summer to catch at one of Dubai’s premier dining venues, Urban Bar & Kitchen.
Located at Movenpick Hotel Jumeirah Lakes Towers, Cluster A, UBK has quickly become a fan favourite in the emirate since opening in 2013.
If you missed out on enjoying the venue’s fun-loving atmosphere during the Euros, fear not because there are still a number of major sporting events coming up, including but not limited to The Open Championship, Test cricket, Formula One grand prix and of course, the Olympics.
UBK can accommodate up to 300 guests indoors and in the air conditioned tent, while boasting a whopping 23 screens and two HD projectors to watch the action on. There are even three newly-renovated private booth areas with each offering premium viewing for the ultimate fan experience.
It wouldn’t be a viewing party without UBK’s extensive selection of food and beverages.
Share a platter of tasty pub food such as loaded nachos or crispy wings with friends, family and colleagues, or grab a gourmet burger, with the local favourite starting from Dh65.
For seafood lovers, the pot of fresh mussels cooked in your choice of broths is a must-try and will have you coming back for more.
Wash it all down with cold drinks, including a buck-load promotion of five bottles for Dh130, or a selected beverages for Dh25.
Happy hour runs from 20:30 to 22:30 daily and the price is as low as Dh19 on selected beverages.
If you’re looking for things to do outside of watching sport, UBK always has something going on throughout the week. Take part in quiz night on Mondays with Big Rossi from Virgin Radio for the chance to walk away with prizes like brunch for eight (worth Dh2,400).
Ladies night is on Wednesday, bringing a mix of music, free drink deals and even a live violin act.
Friday Brunch is the place to be when the weekend hits, with a live band and all you can drink on selected beverages from 15:30 to 18:30 for Dh175.
When the weather does get cooler in the next few months, this turns into a BBQ Brunch in the outdoor garden. UBK is open from 12:30 to 03:00 daily.

There’s no reason for budding cricketers to feel bored this summer with fun coaching sessions and activities lined up at Maxtalent Global Sports’ camp.
After launching in 2006, it is one of the oldest cricket academies in the country and they certainly know a thing or two about what it takes to succeed in the sport, having produced a number of players who’ve represented the UAE national team across different age groups.
And MGS’ experienced coaches will continue to pass on their knowledge to youngsters during the on-going camp until August 27. Al Nasr Sports Club in Dubai, home of MGS, will host the outdoor sessions every Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday between 17:00 and 18:30, while the indoor camp will be held at Cover Drive Academy in Al Quoz, with dates and timings still to be finalised.
“We are celebrating our 10th anniversary and we are pleased to have reached this milestone,” said Sudhakar Shetty, head coach of MGS. “Our outdoor sessions have been really popular, with more than 40 children attending. We’ll also have another edition of the two-day Indoor Max Super Big Bash at Cover Drive Academy and this is a great opportunity for people to test themselves in a fun and competitive environment.”
Besides just learning and developing their fielding, batting and bowling skills, Shetty insists there’s plenty of other elements that the kids will learn.
“It’s not just all about cricket,” he said. “The youths will do a lot of fitness drills because that’s very important, while they will also be able to do yoga and team-building. We will also be visiting the Shyam Bhatia museum in Dubai where they can be inspired by the memorabilia of signed shirts and bats by some of the legends. The idea of this camp is to keep them engaged during the summer.
“Technology and computer games can be a easy distraction for children but our camp allows them to have fun and be active at the same time. We have many activities here that not many people offer in the UAE.”
Open to all abilities, Shetty insists there’s plenty of advantages by signing up.
“If parents are working during the holidays, this camp is the perfect solution. They will not have to worry about their children sitting at home as they can have a lot of fun playing cricket, while also meeting new friends.”
“There are new people who attend every year and that’s great to see because it shows our camp is highly-regarded and that kids are really enjoying themselves.”
